How this all started was as a result of a phone call...

My name is Declan Connolly and am the proprietor of Alice’s Loft & Cottages Self Catering in Castleblayney County Monaghan. In 2008 I took part in a Tourism Learning Network programme. During the course I met up with John McKeown another tourism provider who runs Look Around Ireland. In October 2008 while upstairs in one of the rental houses I received a call from John, we were both complaining about the weather when I mentioned that I was looking out at a lake in the fields after the recent heavy rain that had flooded the bog.

This prompted John to reply, “Have you ever heard of Bog Snorkelling ? Try searching it on Google ?". I had never heard of it so after checking out on the web and seeing the some of the events on Youtube, we decided that we could run this event in Ireland.

So in Sep 2009 we intend to hold the first official All Ireland Bog Snorkelling Championships and have a great days craic as well.

We have hundreds of Bogs in this country so we believe that Ireland should the world champions at this event, but first things first let's get a National Champion!
